Neptune’s Brewery Promotes Therapeutic Wilderness Program Awareness

I’m a little late on this, given October is almost over, but I did not want to pass up the opportunity to tell you about Neptune’s Brewery’s efforts to promote funding for therapeutic wilderness program designed to support at-risk teens.

Throughout October the Jason William Hunt Foundation has pared up with breweries across America to raise funds for organizations which help at-risk teens through wilderness education programs. Livingston, Montana’s Neptune’s Brewery will be making a donation to the Foundation based on the number of pints sold of the brewery’s excellent Knotty Lotty Latte Stout.neptunes-logo

“Many parents are unaware of these highly effective treatment programs. Some teens do not respond to the traditional one on one clinical one hour weekly sessions. It is our foundation’s mission to help parents become aware and to provide financial assistance as needed” said John Hunt, Executive Director. “We are thrilled to have Lauren and Neptune’s Brewery as part of our growing network of brewers helping us spread the word.”

“We chose to partner with JWHF because it was actually Jason’s father who called and asked if we would participate in the fundraiser,” said Neptune’s Brewery co-owner Lauren Silano. “We talked about how much his son had benefited from therapeutic wilderness programs and Jon and I actually have a very good friend who participated in this type of program as a teen and it turned his life around.

“He then went to college and upon graduating spent many years leading the same type of program he attended. We know it’s a worthwhile cause that can greatly impact teenagers’ lives.  When the opportunity to participate arose and JWHF was also willing to honor our request that all of our contributions go towards Montana based therapeutic wilderness programs we wanted to contribute and show our support.”

Jason Hunt worked as a wilderness educator in several states prior to his death in 2001. The JWHF helps raise fund for select therapeutic wilderness expedition programs across the country. Head to www.jwhf.org and click on the Therapeutic Wilderness Awareness banner for more information.

Head on in to Neptune’s and enjoy a pint.  You’ll find the brewery at 119 N. L Street in Livingston.
