This Saturday April 25 you’ll be able to kick off the 4th Annual Missoula Craft Beer Week by getting a peek behind the scenes at how your favorite Missoula beers are made.
New this year for Craft Beer Week is the Missoula Beer Open House with all six of Missoula’s breweries providing behind the scenes tours of their brewing facilities. Take in one, or take in them all and get a look at the mash tuns, kettles, hop backs, and fermenters used to make our favorite beverages.
The event runs from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and you’ll want to check with each brewery for any timing and sign up requirements to take advantage of the fun.
Tap Room Tours, one of Missoula’s brewery tour companies, will be providing free tours of the streets between the various breweries should you desire to hop on. (Update: Due to mechanical difficulties, Tap Room Tours has had to cancel.)
Missoula’s newest brewery, Imagination Nation Brewing Co, is pairing tours with screenings of “How Beer Saved the World,” an entertaining 40 minute documentary on the role beer has played in human history. Screenings take place at the top of each hour followed by a tour that will cover the process of making beer and a chance to enjoy sensory evaluations of brewing ingredients.
Bayern Brewing will have tours of its facility at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and you’ll need to sign up at the taproom as space is limited. They’ll be taping a wooden barrel of Maibock at 2:00 p.m. and will offer specials on brats, potato salad and sauerkraut from their new food cart.
