The Great American Beer Festival is down to its last day in Denver, CO, and the winners of the annual competition were announced during a ceremony this morning. For 2014 there were 5,507 entries in the commercial side of the competition.
Montana’s big win came from Missoula’s Draught Works Brewery which was named Very Small Brewing Company and Brewer of the Year. Draught Works also received a Gold medal in the American-Style Strong Pale Ale category for Scepter Head.

The GABF awards medals for excellence in 84 beer categories. A Gold medal is awarded for a world-class beer that accurately exemplifies the specified style. Silver medals are awarded for an excellent beer that may vary slightly from style parameters. Bronze medals are awarded to a fine example of the style that may vary slightly from the style parameters and/or have minor deviations in taste, aroma or appearance.
