There is something for everyone on day four of the 2014 Missoula Craft Beer Week, with events ranging from an educational pedal pub tour to multiple beer and food pairings and even a beer book making class. Here’s are your events for Wednesday, April 30:
“How to Taste Beer” Tour: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. || Thirst Gear. Take your beer tasting skills to the next level with a multi-stop tour with a Certified Cicerone (the beer world’s version of a wine Sommelier). Each stop includes beer and instruction to get the most out of each glass. Includes two free beers. Did we mention Thirst Gear is a pedal pub? Awesome. $35.
Make-a-Beer-Book Class: 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. with the Vespiary. || Bayern Brewing Inc. Audra from The Vespiary Book Restoration & Bindery will teach you how to bind your own homebrew or beer tasting journal at Bayern Brewery. Participants will be using the Leather Longstitch method: an ancient, multi-signature book structure that lays flat when opened and makes for an awesome journal. Pages are sewn directly into the leather and make a decorative pattern on the spine. Materials will be provided. No previous bookbinding experience necessary. Tickets are available for $50 through Eventzilla or on-site at The Vespiary (located inside The Buttercup Market & Cafe) – cash, checks and credit card accepted. First beer is free!
Tamarack Beer Dinner: 5:00 p.m. || Tamarack Brewing Co. (Missoula). An incredible three-course dinner with special beer pairings for each course. We’re talking rattlesnake sausage, flat iron steak, and Trio Mousse, plus beer! :: FULL MENU ::
Beer and Cheese Pairing: 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. || Draught Works Brewery. In celebration of Missoula Craft Beer Week, Draught Works has partnered with the Good Food Store to bring you a beer and cheese pairing. Drinking beer isn’t just for quenching your thirst, it’s also meant to enjoy with your favorite foods. Come and explore the marriage of complex beers and cheeses. Draught Works has hand selected 8 specialty (many unreleased to the public) beers to accompany an array of cheeses sure to lift the palate. Draught Works brewers and the Good Food Store cheese expert will be present to walk you through the tasting and educate you about both. Two seatings. Each seating limited to 25 participants. The featured painting will be “Hops.” The class includes instruction for painting, all the materials, a free Elysian beer and pint glass. Montana Beer Blind Tasting: All Day. || The Rhino. 158 Ryman St. $7 for a flight of four 7 oz. Montana-made beers. You just have to tell us which ones they are. Correct answers get a prize. Then we’ll draw from all the winners for a grand prize!
