Once upon a time – actually not that long ago – Great Falls, MT, was a place where all the “good” beer was hidden behind closed doors and discussed only in hushed whispers by a select few enthusiasts down dark alleys while trading imported beverages from far away lands like . . . . Oregon.
Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but more good news is on the way for the Electric City’s fans of craft beer. Mighty Mo Brewing Company is primed to become Great Falls’ third brewery to open in only two short years.
Owners Seth Swingley and Casey Kingsland hope to start brewing in mid-November and have the tasting room open the first week of December. They’ve installed a 10 bbl brewhouse from Premier Stainless out of San Diego, CA (3 10bbl fermenters, 2 20 bbl fermenters, 1 10 bbl conditioning tank, 1 20 bbl conditioning tank, and 5 10 bbl serving tanks). They will also be installing a small canning line and hope to start canning by April, 2014.
Named after the nearby Missouri River, Mighty Mo plans to offers five flagship beers (ESB, Scotch, IPA, Porter and Cream Ale) brewed with an English Ale yeast along with two rotating seasonals. Casey will handle the brewing along with assistant brewer Chad Gunderson. Chad was most recently an assistant brewer at Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. in Helena.
You’ll find Mighty Mo Brewing Co. at 412 Central Ave. in downtown Great Falls.
