Draught Works Brewery’s Chain Reaction Fresh Hop Festival makes its second appearance this Sunday, September 8. The Festival is an annual innovative celebration of locally crafted beer and sustainable transportation.
On Sunday, hops will be harvested at Fais Do-Do Farm near Corvalis, MT, and transported by teams of bicyclists (in a relay-style race) to the brewery in Missoula. Meanwhile, volunteers will help mill the 1,000 lbs of grain needed for the fresh hop beer via a pedal powered mill. Volunteers who help pedal through 25 pounds of grain will receive a special Chain Reaction t-shirt.
This year, a second pedal powered mill will be located at the Xs at the northern end of Higgins Ave. during the Sunday Streets Missoula event.
Proceeds from the sale of the 15 barrel batch of Chain Reaction Fresh Hopped Ale will benefit Free Cycles, a program of the Missoula Institute for Sustainable Transportation.
Stop in at Draught Works on Sunday for bike tune-ups, a fleet of whacky bikes, bike safety info, bike polo, raffles, and live music.
