Judging began yesterday and wraps up this evening.  Word has it there are 129 entries. That would be coincidentally odd, given last year’s inaugural event also had 129 entries.

The conference takes place at the Missoula Wingate Inn at 5252 Airway Blvd. beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Here is the lineup of speakers:

Rick Slotness, Plant Manager, Malteurop, discussing malting barley

Jim Leuders, Owner/Head Brewer, Wildwood Brewing Co., discussing the history of the Zoo City Zymurgist Hombrewing club.

Matt Muth, Owner/Brewer, 406 Brewing Co., discussing a mystery topic.

Todd Crowell, Head Brewer, Kettlehouse Brewing, discussing beer judging.

Steve Lozar, discussing the history of Montana beer.

I recently had the opportunity to hear Steve Lozar at the Montana Brewers Association’s fall conference and it’s a presentation you don’t want to miss.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. conference participants will have the chance to taste and vote for their favorite entries in the People’s Choice award followed by an awards ceremony for the competition winners.

The conference is free for members of the Montana Homebrewers Association and you can join right on the spot for $20.  Lunch will be provided. Friends will be made.
